Terms of use

The short version

The full terms below say the same things with the precision that a legal agreement needs. Where a paragraph gets formal, there's a plain-English note right under it.

The deal

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and AimLabs ("we", "us", "our") about your use of the Loki: Screen Time & Focus app ("Loki" or the "App") and this website. By downloading, installing, or using Loki, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Loki. That would make us sad, but it's your call.

Loki is distributed through the Apple App Store, so Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If these Terms and Apple's agreement ever conflict, Apple's terms win for the matters Apple's agreement covers. Apple isn't a party to these Terms and has no obligation to support Loki; that's on us.

Using Loki

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Loki on Apple devices you own or control, for your own use, in line with these Terms and Apple's usage rules. You must be old enough to hold your own App Store account in your country to use Loki.

Loki is a tool, not a treatment

Loki is a productivity app. It is not a medical device, mental-health treatment, therapy, or professional advice of any kind, and it isn't a substitute for any of those. Loki draws on published psychology to shape its design and its wording, but nothing in the App is a diagnosis or a treatment plan. If you're struggling with attention, anxiety, or anything else that affects your wellbeing, please talk to a qualified professional. The App's messages are encouragement, not clinical guidance.

Holding apps

Loki can put apps you choose on hold during sessions and schedules, using Apple's Screen Time features. You decide which apps, when, and how firmly. You can end a session, remove a schedule, or take back Screen Time access in your iPhone's Settings at any time. Loki never controls the Phone app or emergency calls; Apple keeps those out of reach of apps like ours.

Because holding apps depends on iOS, we can't guarantee that every hold starts or ends at the exact second you expect, or that iOS updates won't change how it behaves. We design Loki so that every session ending, including after a crash or restart, clears the hold, and we treat any hold that outlives its session as a serious bug. If you ever see one, tell us and we'll fix it fast.

Purchases, plans, and refunds

Parts of Loki are free. Other parts are unlocked by a one-time purchase or an optional recurring subscription ("Paid Features"). All purchases are made through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and billing. The price is shown in the App before you confirm any purchase.

• One-time purchase: pay once and the Paid Features stay unlocked on your Apple ID, including on future iPhones. Use "Restore purchases" in the App to bring them back.
• Subscriptions: renew automatically at the shown price until you cancel. Cancel any time in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions; you keep access until the end of the paid period. We don't offer free trials that convert into charges automatically.
• Refunds: are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policy. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't process refunds ourselves, but we'll happily help you find the right button.
• Prices may change for future purchases. Changes to a subscription price are announced by Apple before they apply to you, and you can cancel before then.

Your stuff

Everything you put into Loki, like goals, intentions, notes, and reflections, is yours. It stays on your device, we don't receive it, and we claim no rights in it. Our Privacy policy explains exactly how Loki handles data (short version: it doesn't leave your phone).

Our stuff

Loki, including its name, the Loki cat mascot and artwork, the app's design, code, sounds, and text, is owned by AimLabs or its licensors and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. These Terms don't give you any right to use the Loki name or mascot outside the App, for example on your own products, merchandise, or services. Screenshots and short clips for personal sharing, reviews, and commentary are fine, and welcome.

House rules

While using Loki and this website, you agree not to:

• Copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the App, except where the law expressly allows it.
• Try to bypass, disable, or interfere with the App's security, licensing, or purchase checks.
• Use the App in any way that breaks the law or violates someone else's rights.
• Use automated tools to scrape or overload this website.

What we promise, and what we can't

We care a lot about Loki being reliable and honest, and we work hard on it. Even so, to the fullest extent permitted by law, Loki and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular outcome, such as finished projects, better grades, or fewer scrolling sessions. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AimLabs and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Loki or this website. Our total liability for any claim relating to Loki is limited to the amount you paid us for Loki in the twelve months before the claim, or, if you paid nothing, to zero. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Ending things

You can stop using Loki at any time by deleting the App. Deleting it removes Loki's data from your device. We may suspend or end your license if you materially breach these Terms; if that happens, the sections about our stuff, warranties, liability, and law survive. Any purchase you made remains subject to Apple's terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we'll also let you know in the App before they take effect. If you keep using Loki after a change takes effect, that means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't, you can stop using Loki.

Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which AimLabs is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer-protection law of the country where you live gives you protections that can't be taken away by agreement, in which case those protections apply. If we ever disagree, please email us first; almost everything can be sorted out with a conversation. Otherwise, disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that country, unless the law where you live lets you choose a court closer to home.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a provision right away, that isn't a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy policy and Apple's agreement, are the entire agreement between you and us about Loki.
